La “ideología de la intervención” ha sido compartida ampliamente por la izquierda, ciega ante el hecho de que los nuevos modos del imperialismo hoy se enmascaran bajo la defensa de los Derechos Humanos. Poniéndolo de manifiesto, Jean Bricmont establece el verdadero papel que cumple la ideología intervencionista en la expansión del imperialismo, y describe el papel que juega Estados Unidos, secundado por la OTAN y la Unión Europea, en un incremento de las acciones bélicas que pueden calificarse ya de guerra global.
